Content Editorial by Nyoman Meysavitri, Adhitya Dwisetyo, Valentina Eva.

Approach

As the Lead Graphic Designer in the Creative Division, took on the role of crafting layout designs and art direction for contents, editorial illustration, promotional editorials, and collaborating with the advertisers, printers and also publication staff on establishing the themes for each month.

Spearheaded a revamp of our editorial illustration workflow to lean back into the magazine's legacy of being sharp, unusual, and distinctly Jakarta. It was an initiative to rebuild a process that didn't just produce art, but stayed true to our witty urban DNA. Here’s the breakdown of how I reinvented the play-by-play:

䷉ The Deep Dive: It starts with a full read-through of the contributor’s drafts. The goal? Catching the vibe, the "why" behind the story, and the specific urban perspective.

⛳︎ Finding the Hook: Next, we zoom in on the highlights. By analyzing the captions and notes flagged by editors and contributors, we pin down the core "soul" of the article.

☑︎ The Moodboard: Time for some homework. We pull from a wide range of references—from pop culture to urban aesthetics—to build a solid visual foundation.

✐ Roughing it Out: This is where the imagery starts. We move from abstract ideas to sketches, testing out compositions and visual metaphors to see what sticks.

☻ The "Witty" Finish: The final execution. We lean hard into a clever, sharp illustration style—adding those little "aha!" moments and humorous details that keep the reader hooked.
